OSRS F2P Flipping Guide
You don't need membership to flip on the OSRS Grand Exchange — here's what actually works F2P.
For margin math, GE tax, and the general buy-low loop, use the main OSRS flipping guide. This page covers only what changes on a free-to-play account.
Why F2P flipping is different
F2P flipping centers on items free players actually use — early gear, basic runes, ores, bars, and similar staples. Members PvM supplies and late-game armour are outside that day-to-day pool.
Volume and typical margins are usually lower than on members worlds. Fewer players compete on some F2P items, but the absolute profit per flip is often smaller. You will not see members-only PvM supplies or late-game armour on this list.
Treat F2P as practice for the same GE habits — limits, spreads, patience — on a tighter list. Check live prices with a GE tracker before you commit a limit. Once you take membership, the main flipping guide scales those habits to a larger pool.
Best F2P items to flip
Examples that stay F2P-usable and often show a usable spread:
- Body rune — high volume, thin margins
- Mind rune — similar rune loop
- Iron ore — skilling demand on both sides
- Steel bar — smithing and early gear flow
- Air rune — high-volume F2P rune
Check live buy and sell prices on GeHound before you fill a limit. F2P spreads move; yesterday’s margin can be gone today. Prefer items that fill within your session over ones that sit for a full day.
F2P buy limits to know
Buy limits still apply on F2P accounts. Each item has its own limit, and that counter resets every 4 hours — the same rule members use.
Plan exits before you buy a full limit. If the sell side is slow, your cash sits until volume returns or the next reset lets you rotate into something else. On a small F2P stack, parking an entire bank in one slow item hurts more than on a members merch account.
