What Is an OSRS GE Tracker?

A GE tracker shows you what any OSRS item is actually selling for on the Grand Exchange right now — not the buy-limit price, the real one.

Trackers sit between the in-game booth and your next offer. They turn raw trades into a price you can act on without guessing.

How GE tracking actually works

Official Wiki real-time data records Grand Exchange trades as they complete. A tracker reads that feed, maps it to item IDs, and shows the latest buy and sell activity for each item.

You search an item, see recent prices and volume, and decide whether the spread is worth trading. Some tools add alerts so you get a ping when price crosses a number you set. GE Hound is built around that workflow: watch the item, set the line, play something else until it hits.

This is the hub page for how tracking fits into flipping and bond buys. For applied margin math, use the OSRS flipping guide. For bond-specific pricing, use the OSRS bond GE tracker. Free-to-play markets are covered in the OSRS F2P flipping guide. To catch a price without camping the booth, set up a price alert.

Live price vs. Grand Exchange guide price — why they differ

The in-game guide price is a smoothed reference. It lags real trades and often sits between the true buy and sell sides.

Live price reflects recent completed offers. When demand spikes, live can sit well above guide. When an item dumps, live can sit well below. Flippers trade the live book, not the guide label.

If guide and live disagree by a wide margin, trust the recent trades — then confirm with a small test offer before committing a full buy limit.

What you can do with price history data

History turns a single print into context.

  • Spot whether today’s price is cheap or expensive versus the last week or month
  • See how an item reacted to an update, boss nerf, or seasonal event
  • Set alert lines near prior support or resistance instead of guessing round numbers
  • Avoid buying the top of a short spike that already reversed on the chart

A live number without history answers “what is it now?” History answers “is now a sensible time?”
